Florida rose strong October 20, 2017. Having been postponed thanks to Hurricane Irma, some 400 community, military and civic leaders communed to honor, remember and support our military heroes, first responders and their families.
We are thankful to our incredible speakers and heroes, and to the generosity of so many of our attendees and sponsors. You truly are making a huge difference in the lives of local beneficiaries.
Due to the rescheduling of the event following Hurricane Irma, our original guest speaker, Vice Admiral Sean A. Pybus regretted that he was unable to attend. We were honored to welcome General Votel, Commander of USCENTCOM, who gave an incredible speech as our guest speaker for the 2017 Patriot Day Memorial Event.
This year’s event was special for many reasons. We are honored to announce that Jo Brower received the Distinguished Public Service Award, presented by General Votel. It was a great honor and moving moment.
This year, our beneficiaries include Gold Shield Foundation, Warrior to Warrior, and Stay in Step.
Guest Speaker: General Joseph L. Votel, USCENTCOM

On September 11, 2016, over 600 community members, leaders and heroes came together in remembrance of those individuals lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. 15 years has passed since that day, and on this, RHS’ 5th Annual Patriot’s Day Memorial Event, we gathered not just to remember and honor those who gave all, but to support organizations that are making a difference to injured first responders and military members, and families of the fallen. We are thankful to our incredible speakers from the community, and to our guest speaker, Rear Admiral Sonny Masso, who shared his first-hand experience of being at the Pentagon on 9/11. We thank our event sponsors, and each business and individual who sponsored a Hero table, purchased a ticket, and donated to the cause. Your generosity helped us fill the the St. Petersburg Coliseum and to raise over $100,000 for our three beneficiaries: Paws for Patriots, Special Operation Warrior Foundation, and the Gold Shield Foundation.

The 4th annual Patriot’s Day Memorial Breakfast was a moving event that brought together our community to remember, honor and support our local heroes and their families. Attendees heard a series of powerful speeches, including a talk from Justin Beal, whose team provided Critical Incident Stress Management services to first responders at the crash site of Flight 93. More than 600 attendees and local heroes–be they military members, first responders, fire fighters, public safety officials and family members of the fallen–mingled together and shared their patriotism and support. We once again filled the St. Petersburg Coliseum and raised $105,000 for our three beneficiaries: Paws for Patriots, Special Operation Warrior Foundation, and the Gold Shield Foundation.
